Pirovac is a charming small town on the central Adriatic coast, located just 20 km from Šibenik and 50 km from Zadar. It enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate and exceptionally clean, warm sea, which is on average 4°C warmer than in other parts of the Adriatic.
The coastline is beautifully indented, with numerous bays, sandy, pebble and rocky beaches, small islands and islets, and fragrant pine forests, all of which make Pirovac an ideal destination for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
The small island of Sustipanac, situated in the Pirovac Bay and home to the ruins of a medieval monastery, is a special attraction. It is perfect for swimming, relaxing, and spending pleasant time in the shade of pine trees.
In Makirina Bay, at the end of Pirovac Bay, you can find natural therapeutic peloid (healing) mud known for its beneficial properties. Nearby are the national parks Kornati and Krka, while only 5 km away is Vransko Lake Nature Park, a protected reserve for numerous bird species, also ideal for fishing and enjoying nature.
In the hinterland of Pirovac, the countryside is covered with olive groves, fig trees, and vineyards, while numerous medicinal herbs grow naturally throughout the area. There are cycling trails everywhere, and together with swimming, diving, kayaking, water skiing, sailing, hiking, and many other outdoor activities, the destination offers excellent opportunities for sports and recreation.
Pirovac also has a rich and eventful history, reflected in its many cultural and historical monuments. The town was first mentioned as early as 1298, and already in the Middle Ages it served as a climatic and health tourism destination.
The Parish Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was built in 1506, while the old village gate and the remains of the defensive walls date back to the 16th century. At the end of Pirovac Bay, you can also see the archaeological remains of an ancient Roman villa.
